In our system, "Teaching Assistant" (TA) is not a standalone account type that you can select during registration. Instead, it is a special role assigned to you by an Educator. Please register for the account that best matches your actual role at the university:

• Full time TA (staff): Register as University Administrator
• PhD/Graduate Student: Register as Student

How to get your TA access: After you create your account, your instructor should invite you to become their TA. Once you accept the invitation, you will gain access to the TA view, where you can help create, manage, and co-teach Coursepacks.

The main difference is that a Teaching Assistant (TA) is an account-level role, while a Collaborator is a Coursepack-level role.

TA: Linked to an instructor’s overall account. A TA can support the instructor globally by creating and managing Coursepacks, and purchasing cases on their behalf. To help teach a specific class, a TA can also be invited as a Collaborator to that Coursepack.

Coursepack Collaborator: Assigned specifically to help "co-teach" a single Coursepack. A Collaborator can be a TA or a co-teacher (another professor).

Once you accept the educator’s invitation to become their teaching assistant (TA), you can:

• Create and manage Coursepacks for the educator.
• Co-teach specific Coursepacks (if the educator adds you as a collaborator to that specific Coursepack)

Depending on the specific settings your instructor chooses, you may also be granted permission to:

• View the instructor’s teaching materials
• Place orders on the instructor’s behalf

Your instructor will need to invite you through our website. Once your instructor sends the invitation, you will receive an email notification. Simply log in to your account and accept the invitation to officially activate your teaching assistant role.

Yes. You can be a TA for multiple instructors, as long as you accept their invitations. When you hold multiple TA roles, you will see separate buttons for each one. Simply click the instructor’s name to switch to that specific TA view.

No. A user cannot be both a TA and a student in the same coursepack at the same time.

A Coursepack is a collection of teaching materials (cases and labs) curated by instructors or Programme administrators for a specific course or class section.

Instructors or administrators add the materials, set the start and end dates, and publish the Coursepack. Once published, the system provides a unique Coursepack link that can be shared with students. Students use this link to enroll and, if applicable, pay to access all the materials in one centralized place.

As a TA, you can create and manage Coursepacks for instructors, or be invited to an existing one as a co-teacher.

Yes. You can switch to your TA view and create Coursepacks on their behalf. When you do so:

• The instructor field will automatically be locked to your instructor.
• You will automatically be added as a collaborator on that Coursepack.

Yes. As long as you are registered with a student account, you can easily enrol as a student in courses you aren't teaching. Simply stay on your student profile view, and you will find all of your enrolled courses listed on your "My Coursepacks" page.

A DAP lab is a virtual workspace on the Data Analytics Platform (DAP), a cloud‑based learning environment for working on real‑world data analytics cases directly in your web browser. DAP currently supports:

• RStudio for R programming
• Jupyter Notebook for Python
• Orange Data Mining for visual data mining

Each lab is tailored to a specific case and comes preloaded with the required datasets, packages, and libraries, meaning neither you nor your students need to install any software.

The online workspace looks and feels similar to the desktop software versions, but includes a few specific features for students’ coursework:

• Usage Timer: A timer will display your remaining lab hours.
• Watermark: A watermark displaying your account information will appear on the interface.
• Saving & visibility: You can create and save files directly within the workspace.
• Important restriction: You cannot upload outside files into the lab, nor can you export datasets out of it.

Yes, if it’s included in the Coursepack (If not, see Purchasing Your Personal lab). As a Coursepack collaborator, you have the same educator’s version of the lab workspace as your instructor. To access it, you can switch to your TA view, go to the Cousrepack and click Run lab net to your lab.

Students can launch the lab directly from their Coursepack page. They can access the lab as long as you have made the lab “Active”. If you have set a start date for the lab, it will only become available starting from that day.

Yes. From your educator view, you can customize lab access in three ways:

• Activate/Deactivate: Use the toggle switch to turn student access on or off at any time.
• Date Range: Set specific start and end dates to define a calendar window for when students can access the lab.
• Time Limits: Set the “Lab Duration Allowed” to restrict how long a student can work inside the lab once they begin.

The lab may be unavailable to students in the following situations:

• The lab has not been activated.
• The instructor has not completed the initial lab setup.
• The student tries to access the lab before the start date set by the instructor.
• The student has not been assigned to a group (for group labs).

No, your TA lab and the students' labs are entirely separate. Your educator lab is a private workspace. The files you have created in your own lab workspace will not be seen in the students' labs. However, you do have the ability to copy students’ work into your own workspace to review it.
