Understanding the Teaching Assistant (TA) Role

On our website, "Teaching Assistant" (TA) is not a standalone account type that you can select during registration. Instead, it is a special role assigned to you by an Educator. Any registered user (such as a Student or Administrator) can become a TA once an Educator invites them.

Important: To assist with Coursepacks, there is a required two-step process. An Educator must first invite you to become their TA. Only after you accept this invitation can the Educator add you to their existing Coursepacks as a Collaborator, or allow you to create new Coursepacks on their behalf.

Depending on the permissions set by your Educator, becoming a TA allows you to:

  • Create and manage Coursepacks
  • Co-teach and manage content within Coursepacks you are invited to as a Collaborator.
  • Order cases or labs on behalf of the educator

Checklist: What you need to become an Educator's TA

  • An ACRC Account Create an account and choose Student if you are a student, or choose Administrator if you are a full‑time TA.
  • A TA Invitation from your Educator Your educator must invite you to be their TA first (guide for educators). Once sent, you will receive an email notification and see an alert the next time you log in to accept the invitation.
