Understanding Your Coursepack Administrative Roles

When you registered, you chose your Account Type based on your location (either HK University Administrator or International University Administrator).

However, when managing Coursepacks, your system permissions determine your Functional Role. Depending on your institution's setup, you will act as one or both of the following:

  • Coursepack Administrator
  • Payment Administrator

What is a Coursepack Administrator?

By default, all registered administrator accounts are Coursepack Administrators. This role is for staff who prepare courses but do not handle billing. As a Coursepack Administrator, you can:

  • Build Coursepacks: Create and add materials (cases, labs) on behalf of instructors.
  • Submit for Publishing: Request prepared Coursepacks to a Payment Administrator for approval and student access.
  • Finalize Enrolment for Payment Settlement: Confirm the final student count and submit the Coursepack to a Payment Administrator for billing.

What is a Payment Administrator?

This higher-level role is for staff authorized to manage institutional payments (specifically for HKU members or institutions with an ACRC license agreement). Payment Administrators have all Coursepack Admin capabilities, plus the ability to:

  • Approve & Publish: Review, approve, and directly publish Coursepacks for student access.
  • Manage Billing: Settle payments and handle all institutional billing.
