Allocating Wealth Among the Family: Fulfiling a Mother’s Legacy (Case B)
Charles Hsieh was a British national of Chinese descent who worked as a financial advisor. His mother, Pei-Hwa Huang, had been a successful businesswoman with ventures in multiple jurisdictions but had never drafted a will. After Pei-Hwa passed away, Charles embarked on his journey to retrieve all estates of his mother. With all the estates secured, Charles’s next duty was equally delicate and potentially more emotionally charged. He had to communicate the estate’s details to Alice and Ben, his siblings, propose an equitable distribution plan, and reach a family consensus. He understood that he had to be thoughtful about the distribution proposal and communications, and he was ready to resolve any upcoming conflicts.
