At the beginning of the SARS crisis in 2003, many cleaning companies in Hong Kong accepted and lived with the risk because of insufficient knowledge about how the virus was spreading. This case gives an account of how Yu's Tin Sing Enterprises Co., Ltd. was able to overcome the crisis through unprecedented levels of co-operation and collaboration, as well as the leaders' patience and their understanding of the concerns of the workers. It also examines how the Company developed a proactive risk management system for identifying and assessing risks in the cleaning business, and for eliminating or reducing those risks to an acceptable level.
