In February 1996, more than 100 elderly people living alone in Hong Kong died because of an unexpected cold spell. Two public figures set up the Senior Citizen Home Safety Association to provide emergency assistance and related services to single elders in Hong Kong. This case looks at the Association's success as a social enterprise and how Timothy Ma, its Executive Director, was pondering if the Association should extend its scope of business to serving people other than the elders.
