Cathay Pacific's Data Centre, located in Hong Kong, had experienced an explosion and fire which disrupted normal business for thirteen hours. In the search for a more secure location, the problems with finding suitable offices in Hong Kong were highlighted and the benefits and advantages offered by other countries presented the company with the option of re-locating the Data Centre, which housed the critical information systems which managed the entire airline world-wide, off-shore.
